Gainful Employment
Submitted by mulvhawk on Wed, 10/13/2010 - 01:50If approved, proposed “Gainful Employment” regulations will have a devastating impact on our economy, unemployment rates, thousands of schools and millions of Americans who deserve a chance to obtain an education, and choices as to which school they attend. Do not allow this regulation to limit opportunities for milli...ons of people who need this lifeline.
Google and Yahoo!... What's New in Search?
Submitted by mulvhawk on Wed, 10/13/2010 - 01:46Since I haven't posted anything in a while, I thought I'd throw a few updates on here. The search engines have been quite busy over the last few months and have now unleashed new user experiences. Yes, both Google and Yahoo! have made adjustments to their search experience - Google with Instant Search, and Yahoo! with their search update as well. Check out the videos below for a brief overview of how the landscape is changing. Enjoy!
Google Caffeine Explained
Submitted by mulvhawk on Thu, 07/29/2010 - 01:58I know I haven't posted a blog article in a few months, but I wanted to go ahead and share the blog post I created earlier this month for PlattForm about Google's Caffeine update.
Google Caffeine is out there and it's something that some of you may have heard of, maybe not. But in my nerdiness, I would like to share it with you all. There are a lot of great articles and pieces of information put out there about this, but hopefully you'll find my explanation beneficial as well.
Google Changes Name to Topeka on April 1
Submitted by mulvhawk on Thu, 04/08/2010 - 03:06Not sure if you guys saw this last week, but i thought i'd share. As google often changes how they display their name above the query box, they took it to a local level on April Fool's day. According to ABC News, Google changed its homepage to say Topeka "in a nod to the Kansas capital, which unofficially changed its name to Google, Kan., for a month in a bid to become a test site for the company's planned super-fast fiber optic network."
What to write?
Submitted by mulvhawk on Mon, 03/29/2010 - 00:50Well, the time is now! After a nice little hiatus, i'm back. I'm going to take this project to the next level and hope to add at least one new post per week. Whether it be an online marketing update or a review of a new tool/site, it should be interesting and hopefully entertaining!
Come back soon and see what I've been up to!
Waterslide Extreme iPhone App
Submitted by mulvhawk on Sat, 08/08/2009 - 19:33There's a new App available in the iTunes store for iPhone users based on a tv advertisement. London-based Bartle Bogle Hegarty produced a tv spot for Barclaycard and this App entitled Waterslide Extreme is based on that ad. This is the first "branded ad" that has really taken off in the iTunes store. It was the number 13 App in the Top 25 Free Apps today.
25th Anniversary of the ACDTL
Submitted by mulvhawk on Thu, 08/06/2009 - 03:11Today, I arrived in Madison, Wisconsin, for the 25th Anniversary of the Annual Conference on Distance Teaching and Learning. I arrived at the airport around noon, and took a cab to the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace Hotel and Conference Center shortly thereafter.
After settling in at the hotel and checking in at the conference registration booth, I went to grab a bite to eat with one of my PlattForm associates.
Social Media Slideshow - WTF?
Submitted by mulvhawk on Mon, 08/03/2009 - 02:47This was passed around not too long ago and I thought it was pretty interesting. I've seen things like this before about Social Media, but thought i'd go ahead and share.
Shameless Plug
Submitted by mulvhawk on Fri, 07/24/2009 - 02:50So I am giving a presentation at a conference in Madison, Wisconsin, next month. It should be a really good presentation on SEO strategies, a case study with Saint Louis University and then information on Social Media Strategies.
I am co-presenting with a marketing manager from SLU, so that should be great as well.
To learn more about this conference I'm attending, and to see a great press release about the presentation, click here.
The Release of Bing - What does it all mean?
Submitted by mulvhawk on Tue, 06/02/2009 - 01:20Bing is out now. Not the Friends character played by Matthew Perry, but the new search engine put out by Microsoft.
I haven't played around with it much yet, but from what I have seen it looks pretty good. The initial settings have a 20 result set, and the results are broken down into individual categories.
