Traditionally speaking, Interactive Ads don't always work
Let me begin by saying that I have a friend who works for State Street, and I do on occasion ride the JO to work.
While driving to work earlier this week, I couldn't help but notice The JO #208 and the advertisement plastered on the back of the bus. "Click Here and start your business career."
What exactly are you supposed to click on?
This appears to be an ad that would have been perfectly fine as a banner ad on a website, but on the back of a bus? Really? The delivery just seems to be completely wrong. Now I would have no issue with the ad if the copy read "Visit our site to start your business career." But when it says "click here" and there is clearly nothing to click, it really sets off something in my mind.
This just goes to show that advertisements prepared for the web do not necessarily easily transfer to traditional advertising. With a little more thought, this campaign could have been more in tune with what it really wanted people to do - visit the website.
Although this ad caught my attention, it did so in a negative way. Maybe it's just me noticing it since I am in advertising - I don't know - but I couldn't help sharing my thoughts on the subject.
